In October, the Embassy hosted a student debate competition on the occasion of the Danish EU Presidency. Today we were delighted to welcome the winners – three students from Riga Business School – to spend the day shadowing our Embassy team and getting a closer look at what a diplomat actually does. Through meetings and site visits, they engaged in discussions on diplomacy, culture, security and energy, and on the various ways we work to strengthen Danish-Latvian relations.

The Liveability Talks are conversations on how architecture, landscape, and activism come together to shape more liveable and caring cities. They explore how people, nature, public space, and community engagement can strengthen our sense of belonging and wellbeing.

💡🌱Calling all innovators and creatives! The Creative Circular Cities (CCC) project announces
its open tender for Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP).
CCC is currently looking for creative R&D services that can drive local circular transformations
and contribute to the adoption of circular lifestyles.
Informed by extensive engagement with civil society, private and public sector, the 6 participating cities – Riga, Tallinn, Turku, Gdynia, Kiel, Aarhus – have identified key challenges
where involvement from the cultural and creative sector can be a game changer.
Two challenges linked to the cities’ circularity goals have been identified:
🎯 Creating an accessible, unified platform or system that connects service providers contributing to the circular economy, making it easier for citizens to discover and use their services.
🎯 Implementing an interoperable, citywide system or solution to eliminate single use materials (such as cups, plates, and cutlery) at public events?
By launching a common procurement process, CCC cities seek to stimulate the development of
new products, services, and solutions that contribute to the adoption of circular lifestyles. These
solutions are intended to operate at district or city level and must be designed to work in real-life
urban environments.

Tirsdag eftermiddag stod der kultur på programmet.
H.M. Kongen og H.M. Dronningen besøgte Letlands Kulturakademi, hvor de blev modtaget af Letlands kulturminister. Efter en rundvisning fulgte en optræden fra det danske vokalensemble UngKlang og lettiske sangere fra Riga Cathedral Choir School, samt en præsentation af et dansk-baltisk forskningsprojekt, der undersøger fællessangens betydning i krisetider.
Efterfølgende var Kongeparret forbi Rigas historiske Art Noveau-kvarter, der blev optaget på UNESCOs Verdensarvsliste i 1997. Her blev de vist rundt af den lettiske arkitekt Reinis Liepiņš, der har overset restaureringen af flere beundringsværdige bygninger i området.

Otrdienas pēcpusdienā notika kultūras programma.
V. Majestāte karalis un V. Majestāte karaliene apmeklēja Latvijas Kultūras akadēmiju, kur viņus uzņēma Latvijas kultūras ministre. Pēc ekskursijas notika Dānijas vokālā ansambļa UngKlang un Rīgas Doma kora skolas dziedātāju uzstāšanās, kā arī tika prezentēts Dānijas un Baltijas valstu pētniecības projekts, kas pēta kopīgas dziedāšanas nozīmi krīzes laikā.
Pēc tam karaliskais pāris apmeklēja Rīgas vēsturisko jūgendstila kvartālu, kas 1997. gadā tika iekļauts UNESCO Pasaules mantojuma sarakstā. Viņus pavadīja Latvijas arhitekts Reinis Liepiņš, kurš ir pārraudzījis vairāku ēku restaurāciju šajā kvartālā.
