About Civic AF*

5

Civic AF* is a community and a journey created for young people aged 18 to 25 from the Nordic and Baltic countries, Ukraine, and Belarus. The programme is about more than workshops and residencies. It is about giving young people the chance to feel stronger in themselves, to build friendships across borders, and to explore what kind of future they want to live in.

Many young people today feel overloaded, unsure where to begin, or disconnected from decision-making. Civic AF* offers a space where those feelings can be turned into something positive. Here you can learn tools for resilience and well-being, experiment with creative expression, and share ideas that matter to you. Everyone is welcome, whether you are a student, an activist, an emerging professional, or simply curious about the world. Refugees and those living in exile from Ukraine and Belarus are especially encouraged to join.

We believe that civic participation should not feel distant or reserved for experts. It should feel personal, inclusive, and inspiring. That is why Civic AF* is built on values of equality, diversity, and respect. Our role is to create a safe and open environment where every voice is valued, and where young people can find the confidence to shape change in their own communities.

Civic AF* is coordinated by the Royal Danish Embassy in Latvia and the Danish Cultural Institute in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, together with strong partners from Sweden and Latvia. With support from the Nordic Council of Ministers, we are part of a wider effort to make the Nordic-Baltic region more connected, sustainable, and resilient by 2030.
